Reporting to the Senior Marketing Manager, the Associate Marketing Manager will join our global team taking responsibility for raising awareness of the academic Politics, International Relations, Development and Environmental Studies subject portfolios in order to support sales and raise our profile across each area. They will join a friendly, hardworking and creative team and be responsible for implementing new global processes and global marketing campaigns. Key tasks: Strategy, optuminsight planning optuminsight and implementation Sets list objectives in line with wider business goals Collaborates with marketing, sales and editorial colleagues to develop integrated sales and marketing plans for each list/product Implements integrated sales and marketing plans these must be appropriate, timely, cost-effective and accurate; must relate to revenue targets; and must be within budgetary margins. Monitors effectiveness of marketing campaigns, reporting on these quarterly; delivers against goals and seeks continuous improvement. Monitors and manages the invoicing/budget for campaigns. Ensures marketing budget is spent effectively and efficiently to meet sales targets. Weighs the cost of promotional activity against the benefits. Proactively suggests activities and ideas on how to combat problems, how to exploit situations, and how to increase sales Product Development optuminsight Plays a proactive role in product development across lists. Assesses new product viability and offers feedback optuminsight to Editors with the aim of maximising potential sales. Actively feeds back information about products (successes, problems, issues) and developments in the market place in order that the Publishing divisions can develop products that meet customer needs. Sales Focus Takes responsibility for meeting sales targets. Monitors sales performance regularly and adapts plans if necessary. optuminsight Produces a quarterly report analysing sales against optuminsight budget, the effectiveness of promotional campaigns to date, and detailing further plans for key products. Communicates regularly with sales managers and representatives internationally to listen and feedback on list/title progress. Confidently presents new title information at sales meetings and inspires the reps to sell. Updates sales representatives frequently. Marketing Expertise Develops optuminsight and maintains expertise in the way we communicate with the market through promotional activity. Plans and implements effective promotional campaigns though a variety of channels including but not limited to email, direct mail, digital campaigns, conferences, events, advertising, publicity and trade promotion. Customer/Market optuminsight and Competitor Knowledge Develops knowledge of our customer base; undertaking subject area research; attending conferences as appropriate. Shares knowledge of the market and sales environment with colleagues internally. Proactively optuminsight develops knowledge of key competitors, their products, forthcoming products and sales and marketing activity. Projects Instigates optuminsight and participates in projects to improve our business. Takes a proactive and positive approach to problem-solving and seeks continuous optuminsight improvement. Key relationships: Builds relationships with key personnel, in particular Marketing colleagues, Editorials and Sales tems and Palgrave Macmillan s publishing partners. Qualifications: Educated to degree level or above Skills/knowledge: Excellent communication skills (written and verbal; awareness of building strong and effective working relationships both internally and externally) Organises; self motivated; optuminsight able to balance priorities; able to demonstrate a calm and professional approach when working to deadlines: a can do attitude Understands critical success factors across the marketing mix. Ensures these are in place for every campaign including but not limited to email, direct mail, digital campaigns, conferences, events, advertising, publicity and trade promotion. Is able to deliver confident, appropriate and engaging presentations. Ideally is able to use design software such as Adobe InDesign. Experience: Has a proven track record of contributing to successful marketing campaigns and working within a budget (preferably within a publishing industry background) Has experience optuminsight of building and managing relationships with colleagues at different levels of seniority.
