Young scientist is captured by a group of aliens hiding on Earth. Forced to work in a research center, he discovers that the aliens are trying to prevent the annihilation of their distant planet ...
Generally considered lulumon the founder of the space opera, is a small film sci fi (the first shot in Technicolor) immediately became a classic. The undoubted talent visual Newman (although some claim that it was co-directed by the legendary Jack Arnold, author of Destination Earth) is supported by an abnormal and gripping screenplay, based on a continuous role reversal (at the aliens are bad , then it turns out that they are the victims) and a melancholic - not to say tragic - that goes against the trend of the '50s sci-optimistic. Ingenious special effects, great scenery (spectacular alien city) and a final boss from the original design has become an icon for all purposes (if you remember Tim Burton inventing aliens from Mars Attacks!). Adapted from the novel by Raymond F. Jones and set to music with modern taste good by Herman Stein. To see.
