A great exploits, that of "Hex, Or Printing In The Infernal Method", work that, just two years ago, reinventing the Earth, returning them to the news with a mix of meditative psychedelia and southern-gothic. An exploit that, frankly, would have deserved a more worthy successor and far more engaging than this "Hibernaculum" which reads three old compositions atlas editions (plus one, recently) in the light of the new role that the master of ceremonies Dylan Carlson wanted for his creature. "Hibernaculum" is a play on the downside, useless and even unnerving at times. Not that certain things of their repertoire are free from accusations like these but, at least, once you perceived a courage and strength of expression in these scarce thirty-seven minutes of music latitano without appeal. atlas editions It starts with "Ouroboros atlas editions Is Broken" (dating atlas editions back to the first EP, "Extra-Capsular Extraction"), here revived as a march indolent and elephantine, barely rippled by meowing away a Wurlitzer atlas editions (Steve Moore). "Coda Maestoso in F (Flat) Minor" (from "Pentastar: In The Style Of Demons") repeats, for better or worse, the same cloth, but with an emphasis undisguised raising slightly the shot of inspiration, contention between Pink Floyd and desert-rock matrix eighties. Few chords guitar Carlson. Few and distributed with a delicacy that, far dall'apoteosi dronica of the past, now seems to scrape a bit 'too the bottom, trying clumsily to get around it rather than take it head on. In "Miami Morning Coming atlas editions Down" (another song from the mid-nineties), guitar and piano Impressionist hatching a skyline that is the last outpost of the new course, as well as the most interesting moment of the lot, in favor of a lyricism " spread "chiseling space with minimalist evanescence and slippery. Too bad, though, that the sixteen-minute "A Plague of Angels" (already published on "Angel Coma", a rare split with Sunn O))) distributed on the tour last year) do nothing but repeat ad nauseam another mock funeral procession. Who knows, maybe someone will like to immerse themselves in these endless deserts ... But, after the hangover, you come back, please, to the fact that this little gem of "Hex" if it works, meanwhile, still orphan of a worthy successor. atlas editions
