July 29th, 2013, I worked night shift, came home at 8:00am, finished packing and loaded up the car w

Every year, roller cali y dandee derby girls and guys travel from all over the world to attend Rollercon in Vegas for 5 days. This event started very small, as a group of skaters getting together for the weekend, skating the strip and drinking a bunch of alcohol. It has blossomed into one of the largest roller derby events in the world, with 5 days of on and off skates training, seminars, scrimmages and vendors for every roller derby need. It is hosted at the Riviera Hotel and Casino, and honestly some days we didn’t even leave the hotel. This year, 9 MissFits made the trip to Vegas to soak up more derby than we thought possible.
Ice Hurt, who has been before, was our inspiration and gave the rest of us tons of pre-Vegas knowledge as far as planning ahead goes. The rest of the group included, Ice s Mister (Josh), Rita Rogue and her Mister (Lee), Ginger Spite, Sweeet Thang, JMFK, Wrecksy Regulator, May Q. Sick, Ima Schoolya, and myself.
Black Friday, the only shopping I did was from my computer cali y dandee at midnight, when I reserved my Rollercon cali y dandee 2013 VIP pass. (There are different types of passes, including spectator, skater, and VIP. A VIP pass gives you access to all things Rollercon, and first dibs at the on skates training.) cali y dandee
(During this time, I developed stomach issues, missed a lot of work and lost weight I wasn’t even trying to lose. Planning and packing for this trip became even more difficult once I realized I would need to pack non-perishable gluten free food and a personal blender so I could have shakeology out there.)
The entire week before we flew out was a whirlwind of settling into my house, buying groceries cali y dandee to take with me, laundry, packing and worrying about the little details of not only my first flight, but travelling so far from home with my stomach issues. Now, there are a lot of restaurants that offer gluten free options, and if this had been a regular vacation I would not have had to worry quite as much. Since we would be skating or doing off skates workouts up to 8 or 10 hours per day, I needed to make sure I had the ability to fuel my body without getting sick. As you may or may not know, roller derby is more than just tutus, knee socks and beer drinking. Those of us that chose to attend this event went to improve as athletes and bring knowledge cali y dandee and skills back to our league.
July 29th, 2013, I worked night shift, came home at 8:00am, finished packing and loaded up the car with Wrecksy to drive to Peoria airport. My bag was overweight, but I knew that when I left the house. There was really nothing I could do about it. I needed the food and blender so I figured I would just pay the extra fee. Luckily, I got a nice TSA agent and she let it slide with a warning that it wouldn’t happen that way on the way home. We made it through security with no hitches, and then I got to sit in the airport for over an hour just waiting to get on the plane for the first time. I was not seated with any MissFits, but they were so awesome and came to check on me multiple times throughout the flight. We landed smoothly and safely, without any major anxiety on my part. (Derby cali y dandee sisters are the best!) This was the first time I had travelled so far west, and I couldn’t cali y dandee get over the beauty of the mountains.
I could really talk for days about all of the things we experienced in Vegas, but I will just give a brief snapshot. The entire first day we were there, we grocery shopped for our hotel rooms, then we basically explored our hotel and the strip as a group, and got beers together to end the night. Wednesday morning, we woke up ready to skate! The next 5 days are a giant blur, but we skated, we took seminars, we did off skates workouts, we watched cali y dandee phenomenal derby on the main track, we met people, cali y dandee we waited in line, we split up, we met back up, and at night we swam, drank, went to dinner, checked out some of the social events that are a part of Rollercon. We all had the opportunity to take on and off skates training cali y dandee classes with some of the top skaters in the world. I will say that I had so many aha moments, and I know my comrades would say the same.
On the last day at Rollercon, we had our co-ed challenge bout with some skaters from Decatur, Springfield and surrounding areas. We were the Lost Boys against Hooks Pirates. These are set up in advance, but rosters don’t have to be turned in until right before the bout. We were going to be playing on the main track, right after an amazing MRDA (Men’s roller derby) bout featuring some of the world’s top men skaters, including Quadzilla. Here we are all swooning over Quadzilla’s amazing skating, then we get geared up and start to warm up, only to see Quadzilla on the Hook’s Pirates’ bench putting a number on the back of a yellow shirt. Excuse me, what? This man is a beast; he has been coaching and playing all week, then finished an intense bout to just turn around and play again? Not only w

GREAT WHITE SHARKS 1 (Vicky) tangled dvd THE MISSFITS 4 DESPITE finishing up the losing side the Sharks did themselves proud with a great effort against very strong opponents. Starting 10 minutes late, The Missfits finally arrived with a team of five. Sharks fielded their special five of Farzana, Dee, Aisha, Vicky and Salma. It was a special night for the Roadrunner as her mum attended to spectate as the special guest. For the first time in Vicky's 13-year football career, Mrs Roe got her first look at the Sharks battling it out. Missfits, who have beaten champions-elect Under Estimated twice this season, proved tangled dvd to be very powerful opponents as expected. The first half saw a fierce contest, both teams battling with great aggression and everyone determined to win. A chance for Missfits almost came as Salma dived too early. The opposition striker, thinking she was certain to score, attempted a cheeky roll, but found Farzana had not given up and she made a superb save. Vicky and Aisha battled well, both making several attempts at scoring, just not hitting the target. With five first half minutes remaining Missfits pushed forward tangled dvd and hit a shot which Salma would have saved, but a small deflection changed tangled dvd the direction of the ball and it found the net. HALF-TIME: Sharks 0 Missfits 1. The second tangled dvd half saw the Sharks feeling positive as they went in even stronger. With the right attitude all players worked well together, keeping the pressure on. Aisha connected with more headers and the corners were effective, however Missfits GK, who plays for West Brom, kept the attempts out. Missfits managed to break through and in a one-on-one occasion the ball was won by the opponent who scored number two. Vicky in reply raced forward but hit the crossbar. Farzana also took a strong shot which was stopped by an opponent using their arm in the semi circle - a clear penalty but time was stopped as the player tangled dvd claimed to be bleeding from the teeth? The ref took the injury into consideration and gave Missfits the kick off the side? A poor call which led to the Missfits netting their third that came off a deflected save. This however motivated the Sharks even more!! Dee cutting off a player and Farzana taking another off her feet. Both legal tackles but the attacks when Sharks mean business! Missfits managed to slip a fourth goal from the left side as the Sharks tried to reset off a corner kick. However, the final result finished 1-4 as our very own Roadrunner scored in the final two minutes. A well deserved goal but one of many that should have hit the net. Gill enjoyed watching the game tonight. A battle the Sharks were in search of all this season, not many mistakes at all and GWS walked away feeling rather proud of themselves. Sharks stay sixth in the table with one match left against Birmingham tangled dvd Futsal Club next Wednesday. NOTE: Tonight the league suddenly became known as the NATIONAL WOMENS FUTSAL FA CUP QUALIFYING LEAGUE. Why? And why change it with one game of the season left?

What most excites you about Sochi 2014? I think representing America at the Olympics would be a huge

http://skeeze.k2skis.com/athletes/brita-sigourney Age: 23 Home Mtn: Tahoe/Sun Valley, ID Current Residence: Park City, UT K2 Skis of Choice: MissConduct, MissDemeanor Sponsors: K2, Full Tilt, Roxy, Oakley, Monster, Giro, Coal
Can you explain how you got your name? My parents got the name from Carl Larsson, a Swedish painter, who named his 4th child Brita. My mom was pregnant with her second kid when they visited his house and fell in love with his home-life paintings flipart and family portraits. Coincidentally, flipart my parents had 2 more boys before they could name me Brita, their 4th child.
How is the knee? What are you doing to strengthen flipart it? My knee is coming along really well! The first two months were a bit rough and I was doubting if it would ever feel good again but all it needed was more time before the daily pain went away. I’ve been doing more squats and lunges than you could count plus lots of balance and strength exercises. My butt is also looking pretty good these days in case you were wondering.
What are you up to this summer? Hanging in Utah for the most part. I’m spending a lot of time in the gym just getting ready for this Fall when I can get back on snow. I can already see that my legs are getting stronger, which is my number one goal. Summers here are so fun because when I’m not in the gym all I do is play with the best friends ever. We are always going on hikes, boating in the lakes, playing in the park… it’s all just fun and games for us. I also did an internship during the month of July at the Utah Office of Tourism, working in graphic design. Thats what I went to school for before I decided to move to Utah and focus on skiing.
Do you have any hidden talents? I’m pretty good at tubing (behind a boat). If there were competitions I think I could win. The water is like my comfort zone so I really enjoy any activities involving breath holding, cliff jumping, swimming, or wave riding.
Have flipart any fun trips planned? I’m going to NYC in August for some Olympic-hype meetings and then I’m hoping to make a road trip out to Tahoe in August as well. September should be pretty mellow but that will also be my 6 month knee surgery anniversary which means I can finally start running and jumping again. Then in October, I’m going to New Zealand to get back on snow! I seriously can’t wait!
So…Olympics?!!!? How are you feeling about everything? Obviously I’m incredibly excited at the thought of being in Sochi next February but I’m also a little nervous thinking about what it will take to get there. Right now I am doing everything I can to be ready for the whole process, working especially on my physical and mental strength. Since I can’t ski right now, visualization has been a huge tool for me. I’m trying to focus only on the things I can control because I know everything else will fall into place when the time comes. The Olympics are less than 200 days away so it’s really time to get on my game! I just can’t wait for everything to unfold!
Is it pretty surreal to be involved in the biggest sporting event in the world? I feel like the Olympics are a dream for every athletic kid growing up, so for it to be so close to my reach is definitely flipart pretty surreal. I just feel so lucky and grateful to have made it this far because where I am now used to only be something I dreamt of. I can only imagine how I would feel standing at the top of the half pipe, ready to drop in at the Olympics.
What most excites you about Sochi 2014? I think representing America at the Olympics would be a huge moment that I would never forget. To have your whole country rooting for you has got to feel pretty good and I really hope I get to have that feeling.
Tell us a little bit about last season… Last season was like a roller coaster. It went from the highest of highs like winning Dew Tour after ACL reconstruction, to the lowest of lows when I broke my collarbone and tore some ligaments at the Olympic test event in Sochi; ending my third season in a row in February. Then it got even lower when Dr. Cooper advised I get a microfracture knee surgery the day after my shoulder reconstruction. flipart But if there is anything I’ve learned from the whole process its how much I love skiing because after 6 ski related surgeries in my lifetime I still think the pain and physical rehab is all worth it that moment you get back on snow.
Have you ever been a part of a topless photo shoot? Answer truthfully… Haha… Shoot. It’s true the top was off but I still tried to keep it PG rated. You never know who’s going to be checking out the k2 catalog and I wasn’t quite ready to take my relationship with Sasquatch to the next level.
What are your goals for this winter? I definitely have a few tricks I want to work on before the season starts, like more right spins and switch hits

Who is your favorite girl skier to watch? I like to keep my eye on every girl in the scene, to see h

How is summer in Estonia? Summer is always albin michel great. I don t have to go to school, get to sleep as long as I want in the mornings and stay up late. I wish summer albin michel would be warmer in Estonia so I could spend more time on the beach; albin michel longboarding and wakeboarding are also good fun.
What are your typical activities every day there? Sleeping and eating of course, playing and fighting with my brother, just chilling and hanging around, meeting up with friends, sometimes doing workouts or longboarding, wakeboarding or cycling to the beach. Also my mother wants me to do some cleaning after myself, but I often forget that.
Who is your favorite skiing partner? Madi Rowlands, a girl from the UK who I met last summer in L2A. Since then I m always hoping she shows up in the comps I go to so that we can ski and hang out together. It is huge for me to ski with someone my age and even more importantly with a girl.
Are you excited to see the Olympics unfold and to hopefully be a part of them someday? I am super exited about that and how it will all turn out. Right now no one has any experience with the jumps or judging. Also it is very interesting to see how it will affect freestyle skiing, especially the girls scene. I wish I could already be a part of it but I just have to wait until I am old enough to represent my country in such a grand event as the Olympics. With slopestyle and pipe skiing added to Olympics there has been an idea rolling in my head; how they should name the medals `Sarah` to carry on her legacy to many generations and also to honor her. Grammys and Oscars are being given, it would be very beautiful to give and own a `Sarah` but it is just an idea of mine and most likely it would be possible with a competition other than the Olympics.
Do you go to school full time? Yes, but I m not fully there. During the winter I am away a few times for a few weeks and then I take assignments from teachers that I do abroad. If competitions are not involved albin michel then we set my trips to the time when it is school break and everybody is off.
Who is your favorite girl skier to watch? I like to keep my eye on every girl in the scene, to see how they progress and maybe even be affected by that; mostly I think it is not about pushing yourself to learn one big trick but to be versatile and to be comfortable first. Everything comes step by step.
What albin michel is your favorite memory from the 12/13 ski season? Oh, I have so many good memories but if I have to choose, then the most outstanding is going to Euro X-Games by heli that Nike organized for their athletes.

How does it feel to be the FWT Champion from 2012 and in the top 5 the past 3 years? It feels great!

Age: 33 Home Mountain: None really since I live in Stockholm, but I travel to ski all over the world. K2 Skis of choice: Pettitor (Shreditor 120) Sponsors: K2, Norrøna, Kombi, Sweet Protection missfits gear, Yniq.
What have you been up to this summer? I’ve been focusing on physical training; started missfits to work with a trainer and have been training on the water jump to learn some tricks. I ve also gotten missfits in a few surfing days.
Tell us a bit about your last season It started well with two victories in the Freeride World Tour, had an amazing trip to California with both skiing and surfing and ended the season a bit early due to a minor injury.
How does it feel to be the FWT Champion from 2012 and in the top 5 the past 3 years? It feels great! Also the tour is growing and I feel lucky to have been a part of it. Its a great combination for me to be part of the world tour and also to be involved in some interesting projects.
We see that you ve been hitting the water ramps, any new tricks you ve nailed? Yeah, I think that I need to get better with tricks overall so I started with some basic flips and hopefully I can take them to the backcountry this winter. It would be cool to take them to the world tour as well. It s also important for air control so I don t forget that feeling during the summer break.
Any advice to girls wanting to build confidence to drop cliffs? Start jumping off of cliffs everywhere while riding and also be in the park a bit to get used to the air time. It has to be a thing you always do when you ride, you cant wait to practice in contests. Start with some small stuff and develop from that, so that you stay away from being injured.
Skier you look up to the most? Why? My brother Mattias and my sister Janette because of their strong riding styles. Also those who can rip all over the mountain; freeride, missfits park and everything in between.
